Hello all,
This will be my first posting related to my stock positions, as of today. I recently started my dividend growth investing in July 2014 and started this blog to document the journey. As with many of my blogging brethren here, I’m concentrating on dividend growth. I have a very VERY small overall position to start, but I’m hoping I can keep plugging away and build up a solid base soon. I’m going to write a separate blog post concerning my other passive income and investments, to include retirement accounts soon. In addition, I’ll begin detailing my purchases and how I am purchasing as I go.
Without further ado, and to make you feel better about your own investments, my current (tiny) positions are:
Company – Shares
AAPL – 21.3862
TGT – 4.653
KO – 4.3106
DPS – 1.409
WMT – 1.4275

VZ – 2.2765

Total Market Value as of posting: $3,896.97

Congrats on beginning your dividend investing journey. Your portfolio might be small now, but you have already achieved your first goal – to start investing. Pretty soon, you can realize the fruits of dividend investing and compounding and can see the portfolio growing over a period of time.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to share this investing journey together.

Thanks for the comment. I'm excited to start and see the snowball in action. I'll be following your journey and wish you the best.
DeleteYou just took the most important step in your dividend growth journey.... you started. Though small, you have positions in many solid dividend payers and are pretty diversified. Look forward to your progress in your journey.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment and words of encouragement. It is much appreciated. I was wondering if I tried to diversify too much too soon. I plan on sticking to these companies in the short term and adding a solid foundation to each through monthly contributions.
DeleteCongrats, the biggest step ypu already took. And that is you started!
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning your dividendtrain will be running slow, but it will get momentum if you keep working on it. And before you know it your train is moving very hard!
Look forward to your posts.
Cheers,
Pollie
Thanks Pollie! I like the train analogy. It's slow now but at least I started, as you said, so hopefully it's only a matter of time before it begins rolling.
DeleteAgent,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're off to a great start. I started off with $5k, and the portfolio has grown substantially from there. I'm confident things will move ahead nicely for you.
I'm curious how you end up with so many positions? Is this a direct investment plan through Computershare or something similar?
Keep saving and investing, and good things will happen!
Best regards.
DM,
DeleteThanks for checking out my little blog. I love your blog and find inspiration from it.
I'm trying my best to hustle the system now, so I'm using the cheapest ways possible to buy stocks. I have a brokerage account with USAA that I got 50 free trades with. That's going to be my main brokerage and eventually move all my shares too. I also started using Loyal3 and Computershare to buy monthly at no or low costs. Good call on computershare! I'd like to get a decent position in each company then roll over to my main account to keep it simple. I'll have to detail it in a post to explain my small positions. Thanks again for stopping by! I'll continue following your journey on your site!
SAD,
ReplyDeleteThat is a great looking group of companies you have there. Keep adding more shares each month regardless of market conditions and your snowball will start picking up speed in no time!

MDP,
DeleteThanks for stopping by and taking time to comment to a newbie like me! I'm following your site and learning, so thank you!
I was wondering if my picks were diversified enough or too spread out really with such low amounts at the moment. But, as you said, I'm going to keep plugging away monthly and DCA into nice positions hopefully. I'll get this snowball rolling one flake at a time!
Congratulations on starting your new blog. You seem to be off to a great start in some solid blue chip companies. Best of luck to you!
DeleteThank you DM! I'm going to keep adding dollar by dollar and hopefully see the results of compounding. I enjoy your blog and will continue to follow your progress. Thanks so much for stopping by.
