Thrift Savings Plan (TSP)

My second prong of my investment plan is my Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), a 401K type plan.  I’m actively contributing to this account on a bi-weekly basis.  I’ve benefitted from the rising stock prices, as my TSP account has bounced back after taking a hit last month.  Here is the breakdown of my TSP account:

C Fund   Common Stock Index
1,142.8244
$26.8076
$30,636.37
S Fund   Small Cap Stock Index
$35.6756
$9,522.41
I Fund   International Stock Index
$24.8371
$8,144.60
Total
$48,303.38

Summary:

Overall, my investment accounts total $54,699.56, which is an increase of $4,507.89 from my update in October.  This is attributable to my ongoing purchases and overall market increases.  This does not include my wife’s investment plan or our rental property.  I’m very happy with the progress, while I would love to have 100k to throw down on stocks, it’s not practical, so I’m slowly building our portfolio from scratch one penny at a time.  Thank you for stopping by!

    1. Thanks for stopping by Jason! I hope to add a substantial amount to DIS. I really think it's only up from here, as the continuation of Marvel movies and Star Wars will drive profits. I only wish they paid quarterly dividends!

  2. Great looking portfolio with many solid dividend names. Nice to see a portfolio that isn't cluttered with MLPs or REITs and simply chasing crazy high yields. You have built a solid base here.

    1. Thanks DivHut! I'm really trying to build a nice solid base with quality companies, rather than chasing the yield. I've got a long way to go....

  3. Nice portfolio. You may want to look at adding a health care and consumer staple position. My recommendation would be BAX and KRFT.

  4. That's a solid mix of companies. I agree with the above poster though that you should add from the healthcare sector at some point. Maybe even a Canadian bank like TD or BNS. There's no rush as you are just starting to build this portfolio and may want to increase weights in undervalued positions.

    Keep up the good work!

    1. Thanks for the valuable input AAI. I agree with you, as I'd love to start diversifying more into the finance and healthcare sectors. I have BNS on my watchlist and would love to scoop up some soon. Thanks again for the suggestions. That's why I love our community!
