Recent Investment Activity - DGI Portfolio

Hello everyone,

Thank you so much for the continued support of my blog and my journey to grow wealth.  If you follow my blog, I try to invest small amounts on a weekly basis to existing portfolio positions, along with sprinkling a larger buy here and there when I see value in a particular stock.  For example, I initiated a position in Wells Fargo & Company (WFC) during the Brexit event a few weeks back.  Otherwise, I basically dollar cost average into my positions in my so-called core holdings, suck as Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM).  Over the past year and half I've slowly accumulated decent positions in those core holdings and will continue to add weekly or monthly to build full positions and increase my dividend income.

So far in July, I've not been overly busy in investing, as prices are at all time highs so I haven't pulled the trigger on a new position or larger buy, but I've still had a few of my monthly buys go through.  In addition, I have of course contributed to my 401k plan, as I typically add $450-$500 bi-weekly to that account.  Here are my recent investments, as of July 8th:

Purchases:
Special Agent Dividend's Dividend Growth Portfolio

Target Corp. (TGT) $25
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) $63
Wells Fargo & Company (WFC) $45.85
The Coca-Cola Company (KO) $31
Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) $60

Total Portfolio Purchases: $224.85

401k - Thrift Savings Plan

Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) $495
Currently investing at 53% C Fund, 27% S Fund and 20% I Fund

Total TSP Purchases: $495

Overall investments: $719.85

That's it for this quick update.   Not too much action, but I'm hoping the cliche saying "slow and steady wins the race" proves true over the long haul.  Thank you for reading and I'll be posting a dividend income update soon, along with some awesome news on my rental property.

Weekly Buys and Dividends

Hi fellow DGIers and readers,

Thank you for the continued support of my little blog, as I chronicle one dollar at a time (literally) in my investing journey.    As I mentioned last week, I've been traveling for work.  I had another slow week, as I'm having to pay my tax bill in a few weeks, so I've throttled down a tad to compensate for that money going to Uncle Sam.  However, I'm still plugging away with my small investments, especially my monthly buys that I directly invest.   While there is certainly better options, depending on each individual and/or preference, I feel this type of investment enables me to slowly accumulate shares and dollar cost average into full positions.

Here is the breakdown:

Purchases:
Special Agent Dividend's Dividend Growth Portfolio

ConocoPhillips (COP) $60
The Walt Disney Company ((DIS) $20
Bank of America Corp. (BAC) $13.60 (one share)
The Proctor & Gamble Company (PG) $55

Total Purchases for the Week: $148.60

Dividends:
BP plc (BP) $36.82 (DRIP)
Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT) $10.19 (DRIP)
Bank of America Corp. (BAC) $1.45

Total Dividends for the Week: $48.46

Well, not much going on this week, but I'm an advocate of every dollar counts in this investing journey.   With that in mind, I added $148.60 to prior positions and was able to reinvest dividends in two of my three dividends received this week.  Of note, as detailed in last post, I FINALLY crossed the $100 mark in monthly dividends, which was a nice little boost for me. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Weekly Investment Activity and Dividends

Hi everyone,

I've been traveling this week for work, so I haven't had much spare time for my blogging addiction of reading fellow DGIers.  Also, I didn't make any proactive buys this week, as I didn't see any deals I wanted to jump on (plus still waiting to see the damage done by the taxman!).  However, I did have two ongoing buys go through, with $50 to Exxon Mobil and $60 to Lockheed Martin.   I also invested $598 into my TSP retirement account.   I had two dividends roll in this week, while small, it's still a passive stream of income that keeps growing!  Well this will be a short post to detail my weekly activity.  I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Here is the breakdown:

Purchases:
Special Agent Dividend's Dividend Growth Portfolio

Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) $50
Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT) $60

Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) Retirement Account

C Fund (60%), S Fund (20%), I Fund (20%) $598

Total Purchases for the Week: $708

Dividends:
McDonald's (MCD) $3.69
Realty Income (O) $1.99

Total Dividends for the Week: $5.68

Well, that's it for this week, as it was relatively slow, but still managed to invest $708 to add to my growing snowball.   Thanks so much for stopping by!

Weekly Investment Purchases, Dividends and Passive Income

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend thus far.   I have plans to simply hang out with my family and get outdoors, weather permitting, as it seems the rain keeps coming.  It's nice to spend good quality time with the family after a long work week.  It's amazing how fast the little ones are growing up, so I try to spend every second with them before 'daddy' isn't as cool anymore and they want to be with friends more and more.   This post will detail my weekly activity, as I had several small automatic purchases and a few other purchases to add to existing portfolio holdings, dividends received and, lastly, semi-passive income generated from my rental property.   Here is the breakdown:

Purchases:
Special Agent Dividend's Dividend Growth Portfolio
The Walt Disney Co. (DIS) $50
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) $50
Bank of America Corp. (BAC) $26.16
Kinder Morgan Inc. (KMI) $36

Total Purchases for the Week: $162.16

Dividends:
Target Corp. (TGT) $4.29
Unilever: (UL) $3.31
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) $14.99 (DRIP)

Total Dividends for the Week: $22.59

Other Income:
Rental Property - Payment received for March rent, which netted $295 in positive cash flow.

Another week in the books and I was able to add a little to my portfolio, as every dime helps!   I used $162.16 to add to existing holdings, received $22.59 in dividends and netted $295 in passive income from rental property.   Well, that's it for this short post, as I'm off to spend time with the family.   Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Small Milestone Hit - Portfolio

Hello everyone,

With the recent run-up in the overall market, especially in the energy sector, I hit a small milestone that brought a smile to my face.  I was about to update my portfolio on the blog and when I opened it up it had crossed over the 20k mark for the first time.  While nothing grand, it did make my portfolio seem legit for the first time, as I've been nickel and diming it to slowly accumulate wealth.   I'm pretty happy at where it is and how far it has came since that first stock purchase a little over a year and half ago.  With my Special Agent Dividend's non-top secret portfolio and my retirement accounts, I'm cruising right towards the six figure mark in investments!  I should be around 90k, plus or minus a tad, right now so well on the way of hitting that milestone soon.   While my portfolio has increased nicely with the market ride, my dividend income has taken a hit with three of my holdings, Kinder Morgan (KMI), ConocoPhillips (COP) and BHP Billiton (BBL) slashing dividends.   I don't plan to sell at the moment, as it was understandable in this market.  In any regard, it's a nice moment to hit a milestone, as it just gives you motivation to keep it going and improve each month.  If I hadn't started this journey, that 20k would have been wasted on something I'm sure and not generating $700 annually and compounding growth.  Well, thanks for stopping by and for the support!

Here is a snapshot of my portfolio:

Weekly Investment and Dividend Activity - DGI

Hello everyone,

Thanks for stopping by my little blog that chronicles my investing journey.   I can’t believe the first week of March is in the books, as this year is passing by fast.   I had a few small buys this past week, as I used a little cash that was in my Loyal3 account to add to my DIS and KO positions, as well as some automatic purchases in my DRIP plans.   I had another contribution go through to my 401k, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).  Lastly, and my favorite, I had some dividends roll in, which was reinvested.  Ford (F) paid a special dividend on top of the quarterly payout, so that was a nice little bump in my income already for the month.   Here are the details of this week’s activity:

Purchases:

Special Agent Dividend's Dividend Growth Portfolio

The Walt Disney Co. (DIS): $30

The Coca-Cola Co. (KO): $10

Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ):  $50

Exxon Mobil Corporation (XOM):  $50

Total invested $140

Retirement Account

Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) 401k Employee Plan

C Fund (S&P 500 Index Fund) - $298 invested

S Fund (Small Cap Index) - $105 invested

I Fund (International Index) - $95 invested

Total invested $498

Dividends:

Ford Motor Co. (F):  $37.81

ConocoPhillips (COP):  $5.12

Total dividends received $42.93

Summary:

Off to a decent start this month, as I hope to add fresh capital on a weekly basis to further kick start my portfolio.   I’ll continue to use my small investment strategy until I build a nice solid base of my core holdings and really start the momentum of the compounding effect.  Once again, thanks for stopping by and for the continued support!

Weekly Investment Activity – First Week of December

Weekly Investment Activity – First Week of December

Hi everyone,

This posting will detail my investment activity for the first week of December, as I did not get a chance to write a post all week.  Work and family has kept me really busy, so I haven’t had much time to blog about my ongoing investment activity.  I will be posting a separate posting to detail my current weekly activity, as I’m still trying to actively contribute to my dividend portfolio and/or retirement account on a weekly basis.  I had one ‘larger’ buy during this week, as I already posted about.  In addition, I continued investing smaller amounts in my Loyal3 account and through direct investment plans.

Dividend Growth Investing:

During the week, I made one purchase in my main brokerage account, as discussed in a separate posting.  This was an untimely purchase, as the stock has significantly dropped since the purchase, but the long term outlook remains positive in my opinion.  I added to my position in BP p.l.c. (BP), which I initially initiated in November.  I purchased 15 more shares of BP, at a purchase price of $39.60 per share, for a total investment of $594.  With that purchase price, it provided a Yield on Cost (YOC) of 6.06% with an annual dividend payment of $2.40 per share.  This new purchase brings my total position of BP to 37 shares and lowers my cost basis to $40.58 per share.  As of closing this past Friday, BP is trading at $36.24.  I’ve been contemplating adding to my position at these levels, and will make a decision this coming week to see where I allocate my capital.

I've toned down my trading in Loyal3 lately without the credit card perk, but did manage to make a few small trades.  I continued making small ongoing purchases, and this week I invested $70.00 in three companies.  I contributed $25.00 to the Walt Disney Co. (DIS) and $25.00 to Unilever (UL).  Lastly, I contributed $20.00 to the Target Corp. (TGT).  Not much, but I figure even these small amounts will dramatically add up over the long term.

In my direct investment plans, I had a few contributions go through in my ongoing investment accounts.  I had a contribution to Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ), as I invested $50.00 that added 0.99167 shares to my position.  In addition, I contributed $65.00 to my Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) account, which purchased 0.693831 shares.

Lastly, I had a few automatic dividend reinvestments go through.  I received $1.70 from ConocoPhillips (COP), which was reinvested to 0.02575 shares.  Ford Motor Co. (F) paid a quarterly dividend of $6.38, which was reinvested for 0.406 shares.  I’ll be selectively reinvesting dividends that I receive in my Loyal3 account and will only detail them in my Loyal3 activity.

Overall, I invested $787.08 for the week, which was used to add to current positions.  I invested in seven companies, which were BP, COP, F, DIS, UL, VZ and TGT.  I’ve been saving for another larger purchase this month, with the energy sector still remaining the most logical option.  However, as I discussed earlier, I would like to initiate a position in the financial sector and still have BNS on my short list.  Thank you for checking out my blog and for all the support!

Monthly Investment Activity for November - Dividend Growth Investing

Monthly Investment Activity for November - $3589 invested!

Hi everyone!

I wanted to make a post that summed up all my investment activity for the month of November.  I continued making numerous smaller purchases of stock this past month, as I build my portfolio slowly but surely in my personal financial growth journey.  Overall, I was able to invest $3587.83 in November, as it was spread out in my multiple accounts, such as Loyal3, main brokerage and my Thrift Savings Plan.  Anyways, not too shabby of a month because it blew away my goal of investing at least $1500 monthly.

I had three purchases in my main brokerage account this month, as I initiated positions in two new companies.  As most of my fellow bloggers have been doing lately, I tried to take advantage of the depressed oil prices and used all three purchases on oil related stocks.  My first stock purchase of the month went to BP p.l.c. (BP), as it has been on a slide downwards since the summer.  I purchased 22 shares of BP at a share price of $41.25 for a total of $907.50.  I’ve added to that total already in December to give me a larger stake and to average down on my cost basis.  My other two buys were both smaller amounts in the same company, BHP Billiton p.l.c. (BBL).  On the first buy, I purchased 11 shares of BBL at a share price of $50.13 for a total amount of $551.43.  The following week I added 10 shares of BBL at share price of $50.44, which totaled $504.40.  Overall, I purchased 21 shares of BBL at a total price of $1055.83.  I should have waited another week or so for the BBL purchase, as it has gone down significantly since, oh well!  It’s a long term investment, so I’m sure I’ll be happy in the long run.

I continued to make monthly purchases in some select companies this month, as I build my positions.  I contributed to four companies that I already hold, which are Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM), ConocoPhillips (COP), Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT) and The Proctor & Gamble Co. (PG).  First, I contributed $65.00 to XOM that purchased me 0.689535 shares.  Secondly, I contributed $110 to COP, adding 1.621278 shares to my total.  Third, I added 0.35544 shares of LMT with a purchase of price of $66.00.  Lastly, I picked up 0.560789 shares of PG for $50.00.  I plan on continuing to invest on a monthly basis in these companies, along with Verizon (VZ) for the foreseeable future through direct investment plans.

In my Loyal3 account, I made investments in six companies.  I initiated a new position in Unilever (UL) and added to five previous holdings, KO, MCD, DIS, TGT and WMT.  In total, I invested $495 in new capital this month.  Here are the following additions in my Loyal3 account:

            Unilever (UL): $210 invested

The Coca-Cola Co. (KO):  $95 invested

            McDonald’s (MCD):  $25 invested

The Walt Disney Co. (DIS):  $95 invested

            Target Corp. (TGT):  $35 invested

            Wal-Mart Corp. (WMT):  $35 invested

My Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) saw two contributions during November.  I was able to invest $827 in my TSP account, as it was invested through bi-weekly contributions.  I continued to contribute to the C Fund, S Fund and I Fund, and kept my allocations at 52%, 28% and 20% respectively.  Of note, the value of my TSP account crossed over the $50,000 mark, so I was really happy with that milestone.  Next stop, 100k!

I had two automatic DRIPs (Dividend Reinvestment Plan) go through for the month.  I received a dividend of $9.43 from Apple Inc. (AAPL), which was reinvested into .087 shares.  In addition, I received $2.07 from PG that was reinvested to .02359 shares.  The dividends I received in my Loyal3 account were just added to my purchases that I listed above.

Overall, a solid month of investing, as I was able to invest $3587.83 in total.  I can’t believe that in 2014 is almost gone!  One more month to add to my 2014 totals, as I’ve passed by dividend income goal for the year and now it’s onto my 2015 goal of $1000.  Thanks so much for all the support and comments, I really appreciate it.

New Stock Purchase - BBL Again!

New Stock Purchase – BBL Again!

Well this week I decided to add to my small position in BHP BILLITON PLC (BBL), as the price stayed depressed and I think it is one of the more attractive values in the market today.  In that regard, it stayed at the top of my watch list and I pulled the trigger again when the price sank on Tuesday.  I ended up buying 10 shares at a cost per share of $50.44, which is slightly higher than my $50.13 I paid last week.  In total, I paid $504.40, which added $24.80 to my forward annual dividend income.

Quick summary of BHP BILLITON PLC (BBL):

BHP BILLITON PLC (BBL) has a diverse business, as it is engaged in mineral and oil/gas exploration, development, production and processing.  According to USAA Brokerage, two analysts have recommended BBL as a Strong Buy, while two have it listed as a hold.  However, the average consensus of the analysts’ has a 12 month target price of $65.93, with a range up to $73.60.  As you can see from the chart below, the BBL stock price has been hammered, especially starting in late July.  This gives an excellent opportunity to initiate or add to a position with BBL.  The main concerns driving the prices down seem to stem from the de-merger of some assets of BHP BILLITON and the overall weakness in oil since the summer.

Overall, BHP BILLITON PLC (BBL) seems to be attractively valued at the moment, as most stocks have soared to near 52 week or all time highs.  In addition, the drop in share price has allowed a very nice Yield on Cost (YOC) of near 5%!  I have noticed numerous fellow bloggers taking advantage of the drop in BBL, along with other energy / oil based companies.  It is one of the better sectors for value at the moment, so I think we are all on the same page.  I’ll continue to watch for good prices in the energy sector, but I’ll also be on the lookout to diversify into the financial sector soon.

Summary:

I added 10 shares of BHP BILLITON PLC (BBL) at a purchase price of $50.44 per share to my position, which now gives me 21 shares of BBL.  My forward annual dividend income from BBL is now $52.08, which gives me a total of $288.80 annual dividend income.  I have made a few other small purchases this week, along with a 401k contribution, which I will detail in my weekly summary in a day or two.  Thanks again for checking out my blog and following along with my journey, as it is much appreciated.

Weekly Dividend Growth Investing Activity

Hi everyone,

I’ve been meaning to update my weekly activity, but a nasty cold has kept me out of action for the past week.  I’ve been slacking on checking the other blogs that I read religiously as well, but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things today.  This posting will detail my weekly activity for the last week of October.  I was hoping to make a larger purchase, as I have around $1600 saved up for a purchase in my main brokerage account.  However, I haven’t found the right value I’m looking for, so I’m holding until something comes up again.  The market has bounced back stronger than ever, so finding a good deal is relatively difficult.  During my last posting I said ARCP was on my short list, but after the announcement of accounting issues I withdrew my consideration of that company.  I’ll keep following along with that story to see how it unfolds.

During this week, I made several small purchases through my Loyal3 account and in my ongoing direct investments.  Also, I contributed to my 401k plan, i.e. the Thrift Savings Plan.  Overall, I was able to invest $585 this week, along with saving another few hundred to add to my available funds in my brokerage account for a future purchase(s).  I’ve been able to invest around $3000 during the month of October, which is significantly higher than my $1500 monthly goal.

Dividend Growth Investing:

Loyal3:

I invested $110.00 in my Loyal3 account for the week, as it slowly grows.  I added small amounts to my positions with McDonald’s Corp. (MCD), The Coca-Cola Company (KO) and the Target Corp. (TGT).  I’m trying to slowly build core holdings in these companies, along with a few others in Loyal3 by dollar cost averaging on a weekly/monthly basis.

The $110.00 was spread out in the following companies:

McDonald's Corp. ( MCD ): $25.00 invested adding 0.2690 shares

The Coca-Cola Company ( KO ): $60.00 invested adding 1.4649 shares

Target Corp. ( TGT ):  $25.00 invested adding 0.4064 shares

Direct:

I had one automatic investment go through for my ongoing investment in Verizon Communications (VZ).  The summary of my purchase is:

Verizon Communications ( VZ ):  $60.00 invested adding 1.221125 shares

Thrift Savings Plan:

During the week, I had my bi-weekly contribution to my 401k plan, as I contributed $415 to my Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).  I spread my investments out into 3 separate funds, as I contributed 52% to the C Fund, 28% to the S Fund and 20% to the I Fund.  My TSP account is now valued at approximately $47500.

Summary:

Overall, I continued to slowly build my wealth through multiple avenues of dividend growth investing and my 401k.  I was able to invest $585 into my existing positions in my DGI portfolio and my TSP account.  I have another $1600 saved up, in addition to my normal weekly contributions, to make a larger purchase, but still haven’t found the right company to pull the trigger on yet.  I’ll keep evaluating this week and hopefully a deal with present itself.  As of writing, my dividend growth portfolio value is a whopping $6210.76, which brings my total investments to approximately $53,710.76.  Thanks so much for stopping by and please leave me a comment with a suggestion for a good purchase!

Weekly Dividend Investment Activity

Hi fellow bloggers and investors,

It’s that time of the week again, as I will detail my weekly activity.   Sadly, the market bounced back quite strong this week, so I still haven’t made my larger purchase for the month.  I've saved up the necessary funds, so now I’m just waiting on a good time to pull the trigger and pick me up a position in a company on my watch-list.  My short list still includes ARCP and KMI.  KMI has gained a ton of ground since it dropped sharply during the latest pullback, so not sure if it is priced right at the moment.  I’ll be studying over the numbers this weekend and see where the market takes us next week!

During this week, I made several small purchases through my Loyal3 account and in my direct investments.  I saved other capital to be used in a larger purchase next week, so I can’t wait to put that money to work for me.  Overall, I invested $225 on existing positions and saved around $1250 to be used for my next stock purchase this coming week.  So far during my weekly activity logs for the month of October, I've invested $2366, which is pretty awesome.  My goal for each month is to invest at least $1500, so I shattered that goal and will add even more to it next week.

Now to the meat and potatoes…. I did not add any new positions this week, but added to my existing positions, as I build them slowly, one buck at a time!

Dividend Growth Investing:

Loyal3:

Overall, I invested $170.00 in my ever growing Loyal3 account for the week.  I added to my positions with McDonald’s Corp. (MCD), The Coca-Cola Company (KO), Target Corp. (TGT), and The Walt Disney Company (DIS).  I consider these as part of my core holdings, so I’m hoping to keep adding to them on a regular basis, either weekly or minimally once a month.

The $170.00 was spread out in the following companies:

McDonald's Corp. ( MCD ): $35.00 invested adding 0.3836 shares
The Coca-Cola Company ( KO ): $75.00 invested adding 1.8248 shares
Target Corp. ( TGT ):  $35.00 invested adding 0.5825 shares
The Walt Disney Company ( DIS ):  $25.00 invested adding 0.2935 shares

Direct:

I had one automatic investment go through for my ongoing investment in ConocoPhillips (COP).  The summary of my purchase is:

ConocoPhillips ( COP ):  $55.00 invested at a share price of $69.84

Summary:

Overall, this week was productive in my portfolio growth, as I added a small amount of capital and saved some for future investments.  I invested $225 in existing positions and saved $1250 to be used next week for investments.  I crossed over $150 in my forward annual dividend income, as it currently sets at $156.02, with my 2014 goal of $200 in the crosshairs.  As of market closing today, my dividend growth portfolio value is $5822.68, after a little over two months of investing.  My investments now total approximately $52000.   1/20th of a millionaire already! haha

Thanks so much for stopping by and please leave me a comment!

Weekly Investment Activity - Dividend Stocks and TSP

Hi everyone,

The market has been hectic to say the least, as wild swings in both directions have been daily occurrences, which means some opportunities are presenting themselves to us investors.  I really wish I had a wad of cash to throw down on some stocks, as the energy sector has been hit very hard, along with numerous other attractive dividend stocks.  I’ve been saving up for one big buy for the month, but not quite there with the total I would like to invest at a time to minimize trading fees with the broker.  However, I did add to some of my positions through my direct investment plans and my Loyal3 account.  Also, I contributed to my 401K plan, which is the Thrift Savings Plan ( TSP ).  Overall, I put $834.00 to work in my investments, spread between my TSP account and my Dividend Growth portfolio.

This posting will detail last week’s investment activity, as I invested capital in my TSP account, Loyal3 account and by direct investing.  I did not add any positions, but rather added to existing positions as I continue to grow them one penny at a time.

Dividend Growth Investing:

Loyal3:

I invested $70.00 in my Loyal3 account for the week.  I added to my positions with McDonald’s Corp. and The Coca-Cola Company.  Although I do not consider KO cheap at the moment, I want to continue adding small amounts to my position on a monthly basis to slowly accumulate shares.  If the price dips significantly, such as sub-40s again, I will add a larger amount of my capital.  I do like the current valuation of MCD, as it’s very attractively priced at the moment with a very good Yield on Cost (YOC).  I will keep adding to MCD on a weekly basis, as long as the price stays down.

I ended up investing $70, which was spread out between two companies.  I invested the following:

McDonald's Corp. ( MCD ): $50.00 invested at a share price of $90.58
The Coca-Cola Company ( KO ): $20.00 invested at a share price of $42.68

Direct:

I ended up throwing some extra capital into my monthly direct investment plans.  Energy stocks have been beaten down lately, and presented some good opportunities to allocate some additional funds this month.  In total, I put $351.00 towards additional monthly purchases this month for my holdings in COP, XOM and LMT.  The summary of my purchases are:

ConocoPhillips ( COP ):  $35.00 invested at a share price of $68.51
Exxon Mobil  ( XOM ):  $250.00 invested at a share price of $90.19
Lockheed Martin Corp. ( LMT ):  $66.00 invested at a share price of $175.07

Thrift Savings Plan (TSP):

I had a bi-weekly contribution to my Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) account.  I invested $413.00 in total, which was spread out 60% in the C Fund, 20% in the S Fund, and 20% in the I Fund.  My TSP account was hit very hard so far in the month of October, as the market has plunged.  However, it just means it is better time to buy for me!

Summary:

This week was a wide ride for sure in the market.  I ended up investing a total of $834.00 of small purchases and in my TSP.  I’m still saving for a larger buy this month, and have a few select dividend stocks on my radar.  I’m really hoping the market stays low for the time being, but after the Friday rally, who knows?!   This coming week I’ve already allocated some purchases in my Loyal3 account, which should go through on Monday and Tuesday.  Of note, my last weekly post, I noted that my dividend income is at $135.09.  After the new purchases, it now stands at $148.73.   It goes to show you that these small purchases really can make a difference.  I am now getting closer to my 2014 goal of $200 in forward dividend income, which is awesome!  Slowly but surely racking it up!

Thanks for stopping by and please leave me a comment!

Weekly Dividend Investment Activity

Hello everyone,

Although this week was not very active for me, as I'm saving up for a larger buy this month, I did manage a few small purchases in my Loyal3 account. I'm really thinking I will go with a REIT on the next investment, but I'll see where the market is at that time.  I may end up adding to my XOM position as well, as I think there is real value in energy right now.  I'm hoping the market stays volatile so I can pick up some shares on clearance, either way.

This posting will detail last week’s investment activity at Loyal3.  I ended up adding a tiny amount to some companies I already own.

Dividend Growth Investing:

Loyal3:

As I was saying, I had a few small purchases in my Loyal3 account.  I really like the ability to throw down some nominal amounts at any time to slowly accumulate shares.  I'm hoping it eventually pays off, as it doesn't seem to be much, but I'm betting it will begin to slowly add up to pretty decent numbers. In addition, I'll keep taking advantage of no fee investing while the going is good!! I'm always skeptical of anything 'free' so we shall see. It's been great so far in the few months I've been using them.

I ended up investing $90, which was spread out over four companies.  I invested the following:

The Walt Disney Co.: $20.00
McDonald's Corp.: $30.00
Wal-Mart Stores Inc.: $20.00
Target Corp.: $20.00

Dividends:

I had one dividend payment for the week, as the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. (DPS) paid out $0.58 in my Loyal3 account. I haven't really added to DPS lately, as I've been trying to add to KO first.  I do like the potential of DPS, but the price has risen to almost 12 month highs lately.  In this market, it doesn't appear to be of good value, in comparsion to others. I'll have to run some numbers and try to find a fair market value before I initiate any more buys in the company.

Summary:

The week was not very interesting overall.  I invested $90.00 in fresh capital and put some other cash in my buy fund for a larger purchase coming up in a week or so.  This coming week I will be making some more purchases in my Loyal3 account and maybe a few automatic investments will go through.  My annual forward dividend income now sits at $135.09.  It's slowly starting to build up!

Current Positions - Portfolio

Hello fellow investors and future millionaires,

This will be my second posting related to my stock positions, as of today, October 8, 2014.  I detailed my positions exactly one month ago at September Current Positions.  At that time, the value of my portfolio was $3,896.97 and my estimated annual dividend was $94.47.  I added a few buys during the month of September and early October to my Dividend Growth Portfolio and to my Thrift Savings Plan investment account.  I’ve reached my first goal of $100 in forward annual dividend income and went over $5,000 in my DGI portfolio.

Thrift Savings Plan (TSP)

Secondly, is my Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) account.  It really took a hit over the past month with the overall market downturn.  However, as a relatively young investor, I like cheaper stock prices so I can benefit from a higher buying power of my money.  I’ll continue to rebalance and mix up my contributions, as the market may dictate.  Here is the breakdown of my TSP account:

C Fund   Common Stock Index
1,124.5201
$25.4008
$28,563.71
S Fund   Small Cap Stock Index

I Fund   International Stock Index

Total
$45,128.55

Summary:

Overall, my investment accounts total $50,191.67.  This does not include my wife’s 401k plan.  We will continue to aggressively invest in dividend growth stocks to build a solid portfolio.  In addition, we have talked about opening up ROTH IRA accounts as well, in addition to our taxable account.  Any opinions on ROTH IRA’s?  I was thinking it may be best to build a solid portfolio in the taxable accounts first, and then branch off to the ROTH IRA's when we have more capital to effectively distribute.
